A rubber composition obtainable by kneading a mixture comprising 100 parts by weight of the component (A), 5 - 100 parts by weight of the component (B), 1 - 15 parts by weight of the component (C) and 1 - 15 parts by weight of the component (D), the maximum temperature during the kneading being between 120 - 170°C, (A): a solution polymerized diene rubber, (B): silica, (C): a silane coupling agent, (D): a polyalkylene glycol having a weight average molecular weight of 200 - 20,000. The said composition has improved wet-skid resistance and rolling resistance and is excellent in processability, and is useful for automobile tires.
