A rubber modified thermoplastic resin composition comprising styrene maleic anhydride copolymer and an acrylate rubber formed via compounding techniques, e.g. twin-screw extruder. The acrylate rubber may be an ethylene acrylate copolymer selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, and butyl acrylates. The ethylene acrylate ranges from 10 to 30% by weight and the styene maleic anhydride copolymer ranges from 90% to 70% by weight based on the weight of the rubber modified thermoplastic resin composition. Fillers, e.g. glass fibers, may be added in an amount of about 30% by weight or less. The ethylene acrylate copolymer may be an ethylene methyl acrylate containing 75% by weight ethylene and 25% by weight methyl acrylate. An article of manufacture formed from the resin composition has at least improved toughness.

L'invention concerne une composition de résine thermoplastique modifiée au moyen de caoutchouc comprenant un copolymère de styrène anhydride maléique et un caoutchouc d'acrylate constitué au moyen de techniques de mélangeage, par exemple une extrudeuse à deux vis. Le caoutchouc d'acrylate peut être un copolymère d'acrylate d'éthylène sélectionné dans le groupe renfermant : des acrylates de méthyle, éthyle et butyle. L'acrylate d'éthylène est compris entre 10 et 30 % en poids et le copolymère de styrène anhydride maléique entre 90 % et 70 % en poids, en fonction du poids de la composition de résine thermoplastique modifiée au moyen de caoutchouc. Des produits de remplissage, par exemple, des fibres de verre, peuvent être ajoutés dans une quantité égale ou inférieure à environ 30 % en poids. Le copolymère d'acrylate d'éthylène peut être un acrylate de méthyle d'éthylène renfermant 75 % en poids d'éthylène et 25 % en poids d'acrylate de méthyle. L'invention concerne enfin un article fabriqué à partir de la composition de résine et présentant au moins une résistance améliorée.
