The solution concerns rubbers swellabie with water and water solutions and the method of their production. The substance of solution are rubbers swellable with water or aqueous solutions consisting of a rubber matrix, based on rubbers which can be vulcanized at temperature up to 150°C, and a hydrogel filler, where the content of filler amounts to 20 to 120 weight parts per 100 weight parts of rubber and where suitable rubbers are natural rubber, butadiene-styrene rubber, acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, bromobutyl rubber, or ethylene- propylene rubber. The rubbers according to the solutions are produced in such a way, that the powdery filler is blended into a non-crosslinked rubber which is then shaped and crosslinked by known methods at temperature 15 to 150°C.
