Disclosed is a rumen by-pass feed supplement containing a matrix of up to about 70% by weight of at least one biologically active material susceptible to inactivation in the rumen, and a protective substance which is at least one highly hydrogenated aliphatic fatty acid having from 14-20 carbon atoms, in an amount effective to coat substantially the biologically active material and thereby prevent the material from being inactivated in the rumen of the ruminant.

Divulgation concernant un supplément alimentaire absorbable dans l'intestin, composé d'une matrice renfermant jusqu'à environ 70 % en poids d'au moins une substance biologiquement active, pouvant être inactivée dans le rumen, et une substance protectrice constituée d'au moins un acide gras aliphatique fortement hydrogéné, de 14 à 20 atomes de carbone, présente en quantité suffisante pour enrober en grande partie la substance biologiquement active et ainsi empêcher l'inactivation de la substance dans le rumen du ruminant.
