In a run-around heat exchanger the usual constant speed pump and bypass line in parallel with the supply air heat exchanger are replaced with a variable speed pump controlled to provide optimum heat exchange efficiency. A control monitors the various temperatures and flow rates in the system to provide a balance in the heat exchange processes in the exhaust and supply coils.
