The invention concerns a saddle of which the stirrups are each held on the stirrup leathers (5) via a safety device (11). The safety device (11) comprises an insert part (12) which can be inserted into the stirrup eye (13) and has projections (17a, 17b) for engaging at the front and rear over the lower stirrup eye bar (21). An upper part (22) is connected to the insert part (12). The upper part (22) has an eye (29) for the stirrup leather (5), a recess (25) for holding an upper bar (26) of the stirrup eye (13), and a mounting (31a) for a cover plate (27) which can be moved manually, without any auxiliary devices, from an insertion position into a closed position. In the insertion position, this cover plate (27) uncovers the recess (25) for the upper stirrup eye bar (26) so that the insert part (12) can be inserted into the eye (13). The cover plate (27) is further mounted and designed such that, in the closed position, the recess (25) is covered by the upper stirrup eye bar (26) which can be introduced thereinto, and is released only when the stirrup exerts thereon a pivot force exceeding a safety limit.
L'invention concerne une selle dont chacun des étriers est maintenu par l'intermédiaire d'un dispositif de sécurité (11) sur ses étrivières (5). Le dispositif de sécurité (11) présente une partie (12) insérable dans l'oeil (13) de l'étrier, qui comporte des parties saillantes (17a, 17b) destinées à enserrer l'entretoise inférieure (21) de l'oeil de l'étrier par devant et par derrière. Une partie supérieure (22) est reliée à la partie (12) insérable dans l'oeil. La partie supérieure (22) présente un oeil (29) pour l'étrivière (5), une cavité (25) destinée à recevoir une entretoise supérieure (26) de l'oeil de l'étrier et une fixation (31a) pour une languette (27) pouvant passer manuellement d'une position d'insertion dans une position de fermeture sans élément auxiliaire. En position d'insertion, cette languette (27) libère la cavité (25) prévue pour l'entretoise supérieure (26) de l'oeil de l'étrier de manière que la partie (12) puisse être insérée dans l'oeil (13) de l'étrier. La languette se présente et est en outre montée de manière qu'en position fermée, la cavité (25) soit recouverte par l'entretoise supérieure (26) de l'oeil de l'étrier, insérable dans ladite cavité (25), et que cette dernière ne soit libérée que lorsque l'étrier exerce sur elle une force de pivotement dépassant une limite de sécurité.
