ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A herbicidal composition with reduced phytotoxic side effects which comprises a herbicidally active compound selected from the group consisting of phenoxy-phenoxycarboxylic acid-(C1-C4)-alkyl-esters, halogenobenzoxolyloxyphenoxy-carboxylic acid-(C1-C4)-alkyl esters, halogeno- benzthiazolyloxy-phenoxy-carboxylic acid-(C1-C4)-alkyl esters, pyridyloxy- phenoxy carboxylic acid-(C1-C4)-alkyl- and (C2-C4)-alkinyl esters, and 2-(N-ethoxybutyrimidoyl)-5-(2-ethylthiopropyl)-3-hhydroxy-2-cyclohexen-1-one, together with a dichlorophenoxyacetonitrile as the safener compound in an amount sufficient to reduce or suppress phytotoxic side effects of the herbicides.
