Abstract of the Disclosure A safety-belt retractor for use in vehicles comprising a locking mechanism for preventing the extraction of the safety-belt from the retractor. A clutch mechanism acts under normal conditions to render the locking mechanism inactive while, under emergency condi- tions, it activates the locking mechanism. An emergency detector provided with an inertia disc enables the clutch mechanism to connect with the locking mechanism in response to the action of the inertia disc under emergency conditions.
