Le cadenas est lui-même protégé par sa position intérieure, contre le vandalisme et les intempéries. Par sa conception et sa fabrication en acier, le capuchon protège l'eau potable des puits artésien contre la contamination par une main criminelle, en bloquant l'accès au puits artésien, aussi, en empêchant le vol de pompe à eau submersible insérée à l'intérieur du puits.
