A compass includes a first leg and second leg pivotally coupled together. The first leg includes a clamping device to receive and hold a variety of sizes of drawing implements. A lower end of the second leg has a tip. In a preferred form, a pliable tip comprising a plastic material having a durometer reading of from about 55 to 100 is provided to snap fit over the tip of the second leg.
