ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to an improved safety device which prevents the lifting of walk-planks which are secured by means of jaws or hooks to cross-brackets of scaffolding, The device comprises a rail which is adapted to be laid over the jaw and has at least one hook-shaped attachment element which fits through a corresponding hole in the web of the cross-brackets The device prevents any lifting of the jaws away from the cross- brackets and has eliminated the need for longitudinal brackets yet maintains a high degree of safety as the walk-planks act as horizontal stiffening elements. It therefore has effectively simplied the construction of scaffolding while maintaining a high degree of safety, when compared to the devices of the prior art.
