The present invention relates to a removable and replaceable flooring matrix (10) capable of providing various environmental cues for the safety of disabled persons. The flooring matrix (10) may be installed and de-installed in sections, called sectionals, that are securely attached to the ground (96) or an anchor box (92) by two-part fasteners (90). In operation, one part of the two-part fastener (90), or ground anchor (94), engages an anchor box (92) or the ground (96), while the other part of the two-part fastener (90), or matrix anchor, engages the flooring matrix sectional. Sectionals (10) are interchangeable in part due to beveled edges(12), which create discernible pathways (40) at the perimeter of each sectional (10) for providing a pathway (40) for the wheels of wheelchairs and the like. Flooring matrix sectionals (10) may display a variety of detectable warnings (14) or other environmental cues to alert disabled persons of conditions or hazards, or assist in their transgress.
