A safety harness to be worn by a person includes a strap portion for exteding over a portion of the person's body to retain the person within the safety harness. At least a certion of the strap portion includes an outer shell of a high strength, flexible material. The otuer shell has a channel therein. The outer shell can, for example, have a tubular construction. The strap portion further includes a flexible inner member within the channel of the outer shell. The flexible inner member generally prevents the lateral edges of the strap portion from forming a sharp edge when under tension. In that regard, the lateral edges of the strap portion preferably remain blunted, arced or rounded rather than forming a sharp edge when the strap portion is under tension forces experiences in normal use of the safety harness. The rounded or blunted lateral edges of the strap portion of the present invetion reduce or eliminate the binding, pinching and chaffing common with currently available safety harness.
La présente invention concerne un harnais de sécurité qu'une personne porte qui comprend une partie sangle destinée à se prolonger au dessus d'une partie du corps de la personne de façon à retenir cette personne dans ce harnais de sécurité. Au moins une section de la partie sangle comprend une coque extérieure hautement résistante, fabriquée dans un matériau souple. Cette coque extérieure renferme un canal. Cette coque extérieure peut, par exemple, constituer une construction tubulaire. La partie sangle comprend aussi un élément intérieur souple placé dans le canal de la coque extérieure. Cet élément intérieur souple empêche d'une façon générale les bords latéraux de la partie sangle de former un bord aigu lorsque la sangle est sous tension. A cet effet, les bords latéraux de la partie sangle restent de préférence arrondis ou arqués plutôt que de former des bords aigus lorsque la partie sangle est sous tension comme c'est le cas dans une utilisation normale de ce harnais de sécurité. Les bords arrondis de la partie sangle de cette invention réduisent ou suppriment les phénomènes de coincement, de pincement et de frottement courants avec les harnais de sécurité disponibles actuellement sur le marché.
