A SAFETY LOCKING DEVICE FOR AN ARTICLE, IN PARTICULAR LUGGAGE, AND AN INSTALLATION INCLUDING SAID DEVICE A B S T R A C T The device comprises a keeper (3) provided with a retaining element (12) for retaining a bolt (4) in the keeper in the closed position of the device. This re- taining element (12) is mounted to be rotatable and movable in translation on a rod (13) provided in the keeper and is resiliently biased to both slide and rotate on the rod in such manner that, in the active position, the element projects in the extension of an opening (5) into which the bolt is capable of entering so as to close the device, and it is brought to the re- tracted position by sliding along said rod while being automatically returned to its active position from its retracted position as soon as the bolt is extracted from the keeper under the effect of the resilient force exerted by the spring (14).
