A safety razor includes a blade unit (2) carried on a handle (1), a vibration device (24, 26) powered by a battery (15) under control of a control device (16), and a reed switch (20) included in the handle to switch on and off the electrical connection between the battery (15) and the control device (16), a storage tray (18) on which the razor is stored when not in use including a magnet (21) so that the reed switch closes a connection between the battery (15) and the control device (16) when the razor is separated from the storage tray (18).
