A medical needle shield apparatus is provided that includes a shield (10) being extensible from a retracted position to an extended position, wherein the shield (10) includes a first segment (12) mounted to a medical needle device having a needle extending therefrom. The shield (10) further includes a second segment (14) articulating from the first segment (12) and a third segment (13) articulating from the first segment (12), wherein the second segment (14) includes an engagement surface. The shield further includes a fourth segment (16) articulating from the second segment (14) and the third segment (13). The engagement surface of the second segment (14) is engageable to urge the shield from the retracted position such that the second segment (14) and the third segment (13) cooperate to extend the shield (10) to the extended postion, whereby the fourth segment (16) substantially encloses a distal end of the needle.

L'invention concerne un appareil de protection d'aiguille médicale qui comporte une protection (10) pouvant se déployer d'une position rétractée vers une position déployée. Ladite protection (10) comporte un premier segment (12) solidaire d'un dispositif d'aiguille médicale à partir duquel une aiguille se déploie. Ladite protection (10) comporte également un deuxième segment (14) et un troisième segment (13) s'articulant tous deux à partir du premier segment (12), le deuxième segment comportant une surface de contact. Ladite protection comporte en outre un quatrième segment (16) s'articulant à partir du deuxième segment (14) et du troisième segment (13). La surface de contact du deuxième segment (14), qui peut venir en contact, sollicite ladite protection de la position rétractée de sorte que le deuxième segment (14) et le troisième segment (13) coopèrent afin de déployer ladite protection (10) vers la position déployée, le quatrième segment (16) enfermant alors sensiblement une extrémité distale de l'aiguille.
