ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A safety shutter for use in a??unition between a main explosive charge and a detonating charge to minimize the risk of inadvertent explosion of the main charge is disclosed. The shutter comprises at least two layers of metal secured together in face to face relationship, the confronting faces thereof being interrupted so that contact therebetween occurs only at isolated regions, with air spaces between the regions. Preferably the confronting faces of the layers have a plurality of grooves defining ridges thereon, the grooves in one layer running at an angle to the grooves in the other layer.
