Several safety devices (2, 4, 7) pertaining to a socket (1) for an electric light bulb are described, whereby the presence or absence of a light bulb can be detected inside a socket and the electric power circuits can be disconnected wherever applicable. Various embodiments are provided for manual or automatic actuation of said safety device.
