A safety switch (1) has a support (2) of an elastomer and a through-going cavity (3). Within the cavity (3) are arranged electrical conductors (4) and (5) which in a rest condition are arranged at a distance (9) from one another. The electrical conductors (4,5) are each formed as a strip of carbon fibres and have one broad side (6) and (7) vulcanised to the support (2) either directly or by way of a coupling layer (8). Substantially perpendicular pressure (12,13) on the safety switch (1) leads to the deformation of the support (2) and eventually to the contact of the electrical conductors (4,5) with each other. By this means, safety functions are controlled.
