The invention concerns a safety system on board a ship for facilitating rescue of a person having fallen overboard whereby each navigator on board is equipped with an individual portable radio transmitter apparatus and regular links are established between each apparatus and a centralized monitoring radio device, that is a device for receiving radio signals from each individual portable apparatus (even querying them one by one by radio transmission) and in spotting the absence of any apparatus which would indicate the loss of a navigator overboard, by monitoring the regular reception of radio signals emitted by each apparatus and by detecting any absence of reception from the portable apparatus of a navigator to launch in that case a rescue operation.
Système de sécurité à bord d'un bateau destiné à faciliter le sauvetage d'une personne tombée à la mer en équipant chaque navigateur à bord d'un appareil radioémetteur portatif individuel et en établissant des liaisons radio régulières entre chaque appareil et un dispositif centralisé de monitoring radio, c'est-à-dire un dispositif apte à recevoir les signaux radios de chaque appareil portatif individuel (voire à les interroger tour à tour par émission radio) et à scruter l'absence de tout appareil qui signifierait la perte d'un navigateur à la mer, en surveillant la réception régulière des signaux radios émis par chaque appareil et en détectant toute absence de réception de l'appareil portatif d'un navigateur pour déclencher dans ce cas une procédure de détresse.
