The invention provides a safety valve for use in a Central Vacuum System. The invention consists of a valve body and a valve assembly consisting of a bolt, metal washer, rubber washer (s), spring and nut. The valve body contains a plurality of holes running lengthwise through the body of the valve, spaced evenly and allowing air to travel freely through the plurality of holes. The valve body bolt entry face is countersunk to a depth of 1/8th inches and leaves a 1/4 inch rim from the edge of the countersink to the outside edge of the valve body bolt entry face. The valve body contains a hole located in the centre of the valve body running through the length of the valve body from the valve body bolt entry face to the valve body spring face, allowing the valve assembly to run through the length of the valve body. The valve assembly head consisting of the bolt, metal washer and rubber washer seats into the bolt entry face of the valve body and seals all air flow through the plurality of holes in the valve body. The valve assembly bolt moves freely in the centre hole of the valve body. The valve assembly spring slides on the valve assembly bolt freely and the valve assembly spring rests against the valve body spring side face. The valve assembly nut attaches to the threaded end of the valve assembly bolt. The valve assembly nut places pressure on the valve assembly spring and applies a pressure which forces the valve assembly bolt face against the valve body bolt face on the valve body to form a complete air seal of the plurality of holes located in the valve body. The valve assembly nut provides the means of adjusting the valve assembly opening pressure by means of adjusting the pressure that the valve assembly nut applies to the valve assembly spring. The invention is placed with the safety valve bolt end face inserted into the vacuum system hard tubular piping near the inlet side of the Central Vacuum System by means of a "T" connector made of a material compatible with the Central Vacuum System hard tube line. The invention provides protection wherein should the Central Vacuum System become plugged at any point in its components the resultant increase in vacuum pressure in the vacuum system hard tube line will override the safety valves closed pressure. The override of the safety valves closed pressure will cause the safety valve assembly to be moved away from the safety valve body's bolt end face leaving the plurality of holes exposed and thus allowing cool air to be drawn in, and through, the electrical motor of the Central Vacuum System. This flow of cool air will prevent the electrical motor (s) and electrical control parts contained within the housing of the Central Vacuum System from overheating and burning out, preventing extensive damage, and cost, to the Central Vacuum System.
