ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel anchoring device for a safety or release valve in a gasoline pump line is provided herein. The anchoring device is of the type having a flat side within a compartment having opposed side walls. The anchoring device includes an elongate body, having a clamping portion and a securing portion, of a particularly-recited structure and cooperative engagement. A clamp is secured to the clamping portion for encircling the safety valve, the clamp having a particularly-recited structure and cooperative engagement. An extending means is adjustably carried in at least one of the ends of the securing portion to secure the anchoring device within the compartment. In use, the extending means can be threadedly extended into contact with a compartment side wall in an extremely sturdy interengagement, and the anchoring device can rigidly secure the safety valve within the compartment.
