- 7 - ABSTRACT A sail device to be attached to the back of a bicycle rider. The device has a harness to allow attachment to the rider and a first frame attached to the harness. A second frame is pivotally attached to the first frame. The sail is mounted on the second frame and movable between an extended and retracted position. There is an aerofoil located adjacent one edge of the sail. The aerofoil reduces air pressure adjacent the leading edge of the sail causing the maximum depth of sail to approach the leading edge, providing faster speeds and better acceleration and the ability to sail closer to the wind.
