ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A jib furling mechanism to be mounted on a stay adapted to steady a mast. It comprises a hollow tube and a spool axially secu- red at the lower end of the tube. The tube has a longitudinal groove at its periphery for slidingly retaining one edge of the jib. A pul- ley is fixed at the top of the tube and one end of a cable which goes through that pulley holds the top edge of the jib to facilitate the tricing of the jib. The other end of the cable is tied to a cleat on the spool. A rope is wound around the spool. By pulling on the rope, the spool and the tube rotate and the jib is furled around the lat- ter.
