The Sail Style Fluid Flow Switch uses sail assembly to sense fluid flow. There is no mechanical linkage between sail assembly and contact assembly. They are separated by an enclosure. There is no moving part through the wall of the enclosure, no wear happens against the enclosure, so less leaking will happen. The flow sensing part is a sail, the sail rotates around the center of sail arm with the sail arm, the rotation won't be restricted by the ratio of length of the sail arm to the diameter of conduit. Magnet and armature are used to transfer the status of sail assembly to the status of contact assembly. When there is fluid flow through the conduit, the sail driven by the fluid flow rotates with the sail arm and drives the magnet to activated position, where it can attract the armature of contact assembly toward the magnet, so NO (normally opened) contact closes and NC ( normally closed ) contact open. After the fluid flow stops, a spring drives the sail assembly to the normally non-activated position, and the contact assembly returns to its non-activated status.
