CA 2091984

2091984 9206198 PCTABS00011 DNA comprising a sequence characteristic of certain serotypes of the genus Salmonella is provided and used as polymerase chain reaction and hybridization targets for the identification of said serotypes. The DNA, in recombinant form, e.g. as plasmids, is used to transform suitable host cells to make them capable of expressing amino acid sequences characteristic of said serotypes. Test kits are provided comprising probes targeted at the characteristic sequences and amino acid sequences expressed by the transformants may also be used in immunological test kits for the serotypes.
