A novel vaccine composition is provided which comprises: (a) a Salmonella typhi purified Vi polysaccharide; and (b) at least one other antigen wherein the vaccine components are stable and do not interfere with each other. The vaccine composition thus makes possible a single vaccination for protection against typhoid and other diseases such as hepatitis A, that travellers are prone to catch. Also described is a method of manufacturing Vi polysaccharide of S. typhi wherein the extraction and purification of the Vi polysaccharide is carried out in the absence of phenol.
L'invention concerne une nouvelle composition vaccinale qui renferme: a) un polysaccharide Vi de Salmonella typhi purifié; et b) au moins un autre antigène. Ces composants de vaccin sont stables et n'interfèrent pas l'un avec l'autre. La composition vaccinale de cette invention constitue donc un vaccin capable de protéger à la fois contre la typhoïde et contre d'autres maladies telles que l'hépatite A, auxquelles les voyageurs sont souvent sujets. Cette invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication du polysaccharide Vi de S. typhi, l'extraction et la purification de ce polysaccharide Vi s'effectuant en l'absence de phénol.
