The inventive composition contains salt, calcium magnesium acetate (CMA) and sodium silicate, and may optionally contain sodium ferrocyanide, diatomaceous earth, and/or other materials. The composition is useful for facilitating the melting and removal of snow and ice, and is stable and non-corrosive. The inclusion of both CMA and sodium silicate in the salt composition provides better corrosion resistance than can be obtained by the inclusion of comparable quantities of either CMA or sodium silicate alone. The inventive salt composition is considerably less expensive to manufacture than CMA-containing salt compositions which provide comparable corrosion resistance.
La composition selon l'invention contient du sel, de l'acétate de magnésium calcique (AMC) et du silicate de sodium, et elle peut éventuellement contenir du ferrocyanure de sodium, de la diatomite et/ou d'autres matières. La composition est utile pour faciliter la fonte et l'élimination de la neige et de la glace, et elle est stable et non corrosive. L'inclusion conjointe d'AMC et de silicate de sodium dans la composition saline procure une meilleure résistance à la corrosion que celle obtenue par l'inclusion séparée de quantités comparables soit d'AMC soit de silicate de sodium. La composition saline selon l'invention est considérablement moins chère à fabriquer que les compositions salines à base d'AMC procurant une résistance à la corrosion comparable.
