ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The quantity of salt required in brine regeneration of exhausted ion exchange resins is reduced by prescribed recycling. Brine from a concentrator is passed onto and through a bed of ion exchange resin, and the initial discharge of spent brine from the bed is discarded. Brine subsequently discharged from the resin bed is returned directly to the concentrator for reconcentration and reuse in like manner. The resulting saving in amount of salt used lowers the regeneration cost and reduces the environmental impact inherent in wastage of chemical compositions.
