Abstract of the Disclosure Sun-screening compounds, useful to protect the skin and hair against deleterious effects upon exposure to ultra- violet radiation, of the formula: Image where R1 and R2 are independently straight or branched chain lower alkyl; Y is C2 - C6 alkylene; R3 is alkyl of 8 to 18 carbon atoms; X is a cosmetically acceptable mono- or divalent anion; and n is 1 or 2 to provide an electrically neutral compound. Sun-screening compositions containing such compounds and a cosmetically acceptable diluent or carrier, and methods of using such compositions, are also disclosed.
