Abstract of the Disclosure New salts of ?-isocyanocarboxylic acid of the formula Image wherein R is alkyl or phenyl, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or phenylalkyl or R and R1 together represent an alkylene chain with at least 2 carbon atoms, and R2 is an alkali metal ion are provided. Such compounds are particularly efficacious in plant growth regulant activity and are more effective than con- ventional materials such as tri-n-butyl-tri-thiophosphoric acid ester and 2-chloroethanesulphinic acid.
