ABSTRACT A process for the manufacture of biguanide salts of the general formula Image I wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R2 represents a lower alkyl, or, aryl- (lower alkyl) and n stands for 1 or 2, which process comprises reacting a corresponding biguanide which dichloracetic acid or reacting a biguanide salt of an acid other than dichloroacetic acid with a dichloroacetate.
