ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE New and valuable salts of phosphonic acids whose cationic components are ammonium radicals, agents for influencing the growth of plants with these salts, and a process for their manufacture. These salts of phosphonic acid have the general formula (I) Image I where R1 denotes 2-chloroethyl, 1,2-dichlorethyl, vinyl, 1-chlorovinyl, and R2 and R3 denote, independently of each other, hydrogen and at least one of R2 and R3 denotes a radical of the formula Image II, where R4 denotes methyl or amino, and R5 denotes methyl, 2-chloroethyl or isopropyl and R6 and R7 denote methyl or R6 and R 7 together with the N atom form a morpholine, piperidine or hexahydropyridazine ring.
