A hair sample analysis system; said system comprising multiple sample arrays located within a container, an automated drive mechanism for removing an individual array from said container and for urging a. hair sample of said sample array to a first approximate location, and a monitoring and control system, for adjustment of said drive mechanism to locate said hair sample into substantial coincidence with an X-ray diffraction beam; locating said sample in substantial coincidence with said X-ray diffraction beam; irradiating said sample with said beam for a predetermined time; receiving and storing for analysis data derived from said step of irradiating said hair sample; repeating said steps for a consecutive one of said hair 5 samples from said sample array; returning said sample array to its original location in said container and removing another array from said sample container and repeating said steps for consecutive arrays.

La présente invention concerne un système d'analyse d'échantillons de cheveux. Ce système comprend de multiples plaques porte-échantillons regroupées dans un réceptacle, un mécanisme d'entraînement automatique permettant de retirer une plaque porte-échantillons dudit réceptacle et de faire avancer un échantillon de cheveu de ladite plaque porte-échantillons jusqu'à un premier endroit proche, ainsi qu'un système de suivi et de contrôle, permettant de régler ledit mécanisme d'entraînement afin qu'il fasse essentiellement coïncider ledit échantillon de cheveu avec un faisceau de rayons X diffracté. Suivent les étapes suivantes: dépôt de l'échantillon de cheveu de façon à le faire essentiellement coïncider avec ledit faisceau de rayons X diffracté; exposition dudit échantillon audit faisceau pendant une durée prédéterminée; réception et du stockage des données issues de ladite étape d'exposition dudit échantillon de cheveu en vue de leur analyse; répétition desdites étapes pour chacun des 5 échantillons de cheveux de la plaque porte-échantillons; remise en place de la plaque porte-échantillons sur son emplacement d'origine dans le réceptacle et du prélèvement d'une autre plaque porte-échantillons dans ledit réceptacle, puis répétition des étapes pour plusieurs plaques porte-échantillons d'affilée.
