The present invention aims at providing a small-sized assaying apparatus having multiple functions such as dispensing function and heating function. The apparatus comprises: a reagent/sample tray 20 capable of moving reciprocally on a base 11; a tray conveying mechanism 30 for conveying the reagent/sample tray 20 reciprocally; a dispensing mechanism 40 for dispensing the sample or the reagent into each reaction well; and a temperature maintaining mechanism 50 for maintaining the temperature of the microplate at a predetermined temperature, wherein the dispensing mechanism 40 has a dispenser 41 for dispensing the sample and the reagent and a carrier 90 for carrying the dispenser 41 in a direction perpendicular to the reciprocating direction of the reagent/sample tray; a supporter 28 for the microplate is provided at the end of the reagent/sample tray 20 in the direction perpendicular to the reciprocating direction of the reagent/sample tray 20; and the temperature maintaining mechanism 50 is arranged adjacent to the supporter 28-provided side of the reciprocating region of the reagent/sample tray 20.
