A damage resistant sand screen assembly has at least one layer of a sintered porous medium preferably a sintered metal membrane, coaxially disposed about and secured to a perforated core. The assembly may also include a woven wire mesh drainage layer disposed between the perforated production tube and the sintered porous medium, and a protective covering, preferably a woven wire mesh. The assembly is suitable for use in gravel pack, or it may be installed outside of agravel pack, such as on the end of a production pipe or on a down-hole pump.

Un ensemble résistant de filtre à sable possède au moins une couche d'un moyen poreux fritté (10, 11, 12), de préférence une membrane métallique frittée, placée coaxialement autour d'une partie centrale perforée (1) et fixée à celle-ci. L'ensemble peut également comprendre une couche de drainage (9) en maille métallique tissée, située entre le tube de production perforé (1) et le moyen poreux fritté (10, 11, 12), ainsi qu'une couverture de protection (13), de préférence une maille métallique tissée. L'ensemble est approprié pour s'utiliser dans un filtre à gravier (4) ou bien il peut être monté à l'extérieur d'un filtre à gravier (4), par exemple, à l'extrémité d'un conduit de production ou sur une pompe de fond (18).
