A sanding apparatus for sanding a support surface includes an elongated frame having a handle end. and a work end. The handle end is arranged for operator control and the work end is adapted for connection to a working device. The sanding apparatus also includes a stabilizer member adapted to contact and grip the support surface. The stabilizer member is disposed between the handle end and the work end. The stabilizer member prevents the sanding apparatus from pulling away from an operator during use.
