ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The sanitary napkin is provided with a fluid permeable cover and a fluid impermeable baffle as well as a double layered absorbent batt. The absorbent material is characterized by different densities in its different layers with the layer closest the body of the wearer having a density between 0.4 to 1.0 grams/cc and the other layer having a density greater than the first layer. It is preferred that the second layer contain compressed densified areas for fluid direction purposes.
