A window sash system comprises a plurality of sash members which fit with one another to form a complete border around an opening in a hollow door or wall formed with spaced apart panels. Each of the sashes has a pane mounting side which faces into the opening and a panel mounting side. The pane mounting side is provided with opposing spaced apart glazing strips one of which is releasably secured to the sash. The panel mounting side of the sash is provided with pair of spaced apart panel mounting channels, one to each side of the sash.
