A saw blade having a basic body (1) and unset teeth (2 1, 2 2, ect.) has recurring cycles of teeth, each cycle having at least one group of teeth with a height decreasing from tooth to tooth and width at the same increasing. The teeth (2 1, 2 2, ect.) are formed symmetrically with respect to a longitudinal center plane (8) through the basic body (1). The effective cutting edges or cutting-edge sections (6 1, 12 1; 14 1, 12 2, ect.) of all the teeth (2 1, 2 2, ect.) are in each case formed by a jutting-out cutting edge, the inner section (6 1, 6 2, ect.) of which runs approximately perpendicularly with respect to the longitudinal center plane (8) and which is adjoined externally by a phase (7 1, 7 2, ect.) inclined toward the basic body (1). The widest tooth (2 4) in the group of teeth has an angle greater than 90° between phase (7 4) and flank (10 4).
