The present invention, a sawmill log turner turns a log so it can be held in a log carriage for a pass through a saw blade. The log turner comprises a top assembly that is connected and pivots about a base assembly. The top assembly has a toothed log turning wheel that is raised to engage the log by pivoting the top assembly about the base assembly. The log turner comprises a means of pivoting the top assembly about the base assembly as well as a means of turning the toothed log turning wheel.
