An iterative Turbo decoder in which soft bits of a received signal are repetitively subjected to the process of decoding by a first decoder associated with a first encoder in the transmitter, interleaving by an interleaver associated with an interleaver in the transmitter, decoding by a second decoder associated with a second encoder in the transmitter, and deinterleaving by a deinterleaver associated with the interleaver in the transmitter. The improvement is to scale the signal after each decoding by a predetermined value in the vicinity of 0.7 to 0.8. At a signal Eb/No in the vicinity of 1.0 db., an improvement of about 0.2 db. in coding gain is attained while very little complexity is added. Decoders may be according to the max Log MAP algorithm instead of the more complex Log MAP algorithm with only slight degradation of performance.
L'invention concerne un décodeur turbo itératif dans lequel des bits </= soft >/= d'un signal reçu sont soumis de manière répétée à un processus de décodage dans un premier décodeur associé à un premier codeur situé dans l'émetteur, à un entrelacement effectué par un dispositif d'entrelacement associé à un dispositif d'entrelacement situé dans l'émetteur, puis à un décodage dans un second décodeur associé à un second codeur situé dans l'émetteur, et à un désentrelacement dans un dispositif de désentrelacement associé à l'entrelaceur situé dans l'émetteur. L'amélioration réside dans l'échelonnement du signal effectué après chaque décodage avec d'un facteur prédéterminé se situant dans les environs de 0,7 à 0,8. Pour un rapport Eb/No du signal d'environ 1,0 db on obtient ainsi une amélioration d'environ 0,2 db en gain de codage, avec très faible une augmentation de complexité. Les décodeurs peuvent être adaptés à l'algorithme max Log MAP au lieu de l'algorithme Log Map plus complexe, avec une baisse de performance minime.
