SCAN ANGLE COMPENSATOR FOR ELECTRO-OPTICAL LABEL READING SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A scan angle compensator is provided for an electro- optical label reading system of the type comprising apparatus designed to scan an extended range for a coded data label disposed within a portion of the range and a sensor operative in response to light reflected from the label to produce signals representa- tive of the data, wherein the strength of the signals is related to the position of the label within the range. The present com- pensator includes a function generator the output of which varies inversely to the fluctuation of said signals as said range is scanned and multiplying means receiving as inputs the output of the sensor and function generator and operative to multiply the same so that the amplitude of the output of the multiplier remains constant regardless of the position of the label within the range.
