A SCORCH RETARDER FOR HALOGENATED ELASTOMERS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In accordance with the present invention there is provided a vulcanizable halogenated butyl rubber compound having an improved degree of scorch resistance without causing unreasonably long cure time. The compound is characterized in that it comprises a retarder conforming structurally to (X) Image wherein X is a C1-C6 alkyl and n is an integer from 0 to 4. The physical properties of the compound are substantially unchanged by the incorporation of the retarder.
