A method and apparatus for removing fouling materials from the surface of a plurality of porous membranes (9) arranged in a membrane module (4) by providing, from within the module, by means (10) other than gas passing through the pores of said membranes, gas bubbles in a uniform distribution relative to the porous membrane array such that the bubbles move past the surfaces of the membranes (9) to dislodge fouling materials therefrom. The membranes (9) are arranged in close proximity to one another and mounted to prevent excessive movement therebetween. The bubbles also produce vibration and rubbing together of the membranes to further assist removal of fouling materials.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de décapage pour enlever des matériaux de colmatage de la surface d'une pluralité de membranes poreuses (9) formant un module filtrant (4). On forme depuis l'intérieur (10), par un procédé autre que de faire passer le gaz à travers les pores desdites membranes, des bulles de gaz réparties de manière uniforme par rapport à l'assemblage de membranes poreuses, pour que les bulles passent au droit des surfaces des membranes (9), afin d'en déloger les matériaux de colmatage. Les membranes (9) sont disposées près les unes des autres et elles sont montées de manière à empêcher un mouvement mutuel excessif. Les bulles produisent également des vibrations et un frottement mutuel des membranes qui améliorent encore le décapage.
