D-12887 SCR POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR PLASMA ARC WORKING ABSTRACT The power supply system includes a pilot arc power supply for energizing a pilot arc between the electrode and nozzle of a plasma arc torch, a main arc power supply including an SCR rectifier circuit, a current control circuit for adjusting the firing angle of each SCR in the SCR rectifier circuit to regulate main arc current flow, and a trickle arc generator coupled to the main arc power supply and to the workpiece for supplying a predetermined level of trickle arc current during periods when the SCR's in the SCR rectifier circuit are deenergized. -1-
