A screen printing stencil is produced chemically by application of a chemical agent 5 to a screen mesh 3 having a stencil-forming layer. The chemical agent 5 is applied dropwise using computer-controlled apparatus. The chemical agent reacts with the stencil-forming agent to harden the stencil in areas which remain upon subsequent wash-out. The stencil so produced can be used for screen printing in the usual way. The method avoids the use of safe lights and actinic radiation. The apparatus used can be a commercially-available apparatus designed for direct application of liquids dropwise to screens mounted in their frames. The stencil-forming layer can be provided using a commercially-available emulsion-coated film or a commercially-available emulsion applied directly to the screen mesh.
Pochoir pour sérigraphie produit chimiquement par l'application d'un agent chimique (5) sur une trame maillée (3) comprenant une couche formant un pochoir. L'agent chimique (5) est appliqué goutte à goutte au moyen d'un appareil commandé par un ordinateur. L'agent réagit en présence de l'agent formant un pochoir pour durcir certaines régions du pochoir qui demeurent après un lavage. Le pochoir ainsi obtenu peut être utilisé pour la sérigraphie réalisée selon les procédés habituels. La méthode permet d'éviter l'utilisation de lampes et de rayonnements inactiniques. L'appareil utilisé peut consister en un appareil disponible dans le commerce et conçu pour l'application directe de liquides goutte à goutte sur des trames montées sur leur cadre. La couche formant le pochoir peut être obtenue en utilisant une pellicule enduite d'une émulsion ou une émulsion disponible dans le commerce appliquée directement sur la trame maillée.
