ABSTRACT A screening device for separating solid-liquid mixtures into solid matter and liquid, has a stationary screen basket, the inner wall of which is a rotational surface with a vertical axis, the diameter of which narrows downwards and into the uppermost area of which the mixture is fed tangentially at high speed. The screen basket wall area into which the mixture runs is spiral shaped with the maximum radius (R) being at the inlet location and the radius of subsequent areas constantly decreasing.
