A method for identifying a vaccine candidate, said method comprising selecting a protein from the proteome of a target organism on the basis of a property selected from a biophysical property or the amino acid composition of that protein. For example, using this method a first set of data for a said property of a one or more vaccine antigens of a particular genus is collected, and a control set of data for said property of one or more random proteins from the same genus is also collected. These datasets are then compared and statistical differences noted. The proteome of a target species may then be examined and one or more vaccine candidates selected from that proteome on the basis that they have a property more similar to that of the first set of data.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'identification d'un vaccin candidat, ce procédé consistant à sélectionner une protéine à partir du protéome d'un organisme cible sur la base d'une propriété sélectionnée à partir d'une propriété biophysique ou sur la base de la composition en acides aminés de cette protéine. Par exemple, au moyen de ce procédé on collecte un premier ensemble de données concernant une propriété d'un ou de plusieurs antigènes de vaccin d'un genre particulier, et on collecte aussi un ensemble de contrôle de données concernant la propriété d'une ou de plusieurs protéines aléatoires provenant du même genre. Ces ensembles de données sont alors comparés et les différences statistiques notées. Le protéome d'une espèce cible peut alors être examiné et un ou plusieurs vaccins candidats sélectionnés à partir de ce protéome sur le fait qu'ils possèdent une propriété plus ressemblante à celle du premier ensemble de données.
