A B S T R A C T Screw rotor compressor comprising intermeshing male and female rotors. The leading flank of each male rotor groove comprises a portion inter- secting with the pitch circle and following a circular arc having its centre inside the pitch circle. In the point of intersection the tangent to the arc forms an angle of .25 rad to .75 rad with a radius of the rotor, and the radius of the arc forms an acute angle with a line connecting the centre of the arc with the centre of the rotor.
